There is a cheaper, safer, and more effective alternative to the radical treatments for infertility prescribed by doctors. A study in the December 2011 scientific journal Contemporary Therapies in Medicine found that women who turned to treatments based on Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM were twice as likely to get pregnant as those who turned to modern medicine for a solution.

The study found that women who used Chinese herbal medicines were more likely to get pregnant than those who received in vitro fertilization (IVF) or fertility drugs. In fact, the study found that Chinese herbal medicines were 3.5 times as effective as modern medicines. Around 60% of the women who used the Chinese herbs got pregnant. Only around 32% of the women using the drugs got pregnant. Chinese herbal medicine even beat IVF; around 50% of the women who used the herbs got pregnant. Around 32% of the women who resorted to IVF got pregnant.

In a review posted at the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) website, the study’s authors concluded this:

“Our review suggests that management of female infertility with Chinese Herbal Medicine can improve pregnancy rates 2-fold within a 4 month period compared with Western Medical fertility drug therapy or IVF. Assessment of the quality of the menstrual cycle, integral to TCM diagnosis, appears to be fundamental to successful treatment of female infertility.”

What Herbs Should You Take to get Pregnant?

Okay, so the science proves Chinese herbs work but which herbs should you take to boost your fertility? Both the man and the woman need to be taking a mixture of Chinese herbs.

Some herbs that can help both men and women boost their fertility include the following:

  • Black Ant Extract also known as Polyrhachis Ant Extract and the “Herb of Kings.” Extracts and tonics made from the flesh of the black ant have been consumed as a treatment for infertility in China for centuries. Modern science verifies its benefits. Black ant extract contains high levels of vital nutrients including Vitamin B2, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Zinc, Calcium, Phosphorous, Iron, Magnesium, and Selenium. It is also one of the most concentrated sources of protein available and it may have the highest level of zinc of any living organism. Black Ant Extract can help reverse infertility in both women and men because poor nutrition is one of the root causes of infertility. Poor nutrition contributes to many causes of infertility including low sperm count in men, lack of energy, lack of libido, infections, low levels of hormones, infections, stress, and other serious health problems. Both the man and the woman should be taking black ant extract if the woman is trying to get pregnant.
  • Pine Pollen is known as an androgenic herb because it contains chemicals that boost the production of hormones related to fertility or androgens. These include androsterone, androstenedione, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), and testosterone. No other herb is known to boost levels of these hormones at the same level as Pine Pollen. Therefore, it is a highly effective treatment for male infertility. Male infertility is a growing problem because of falling testosterone levels caused by poor nutrition, pollution, and increasing numbers of older men trying to have children. The woman can take it too because pine pollen contains high levels of Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, calcium, iron, magnesium, molybdenum, phosphor, potassium, selenium, silicon, sodium, and zinc. Women should be careful with pine pollen because it can lower estrogen levels. Estrogen, the female hormone, is needed for a woman to get pregnant.
  • Ginseng – This herb is widely believed to improve uterine health which is obviously vital to pregnancy. Some varieties of ginseng are believed to increase egg follicle development which can increase a woman’s chance of fertilization. Maca or Peruvian ginseng may also help regulate a woman’s menstrual cycle which can help a woman get pregnant.

This is just a tiny sample of the Chinese herbs that can help a couple conceive a baby. There are just so many Chinese herbs out there that it is a good idea for a couple having troubling conceiving to consult a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Such a professional can advise the couple on herbal use and also offer other Chinese therapies such as acupuncture which might also help a woman get pregnant. These therapies work by reducing stress and restoring the hormonal balance in the body which is vital to fertility.

Something to remember is that the herbs will not work if the woman doesn’t live a healthy lifestyle. That means she should eat a good diet, get plenty of exercise, plenty of optimal sleep, reduce stress, and take measures to reduce pollution in her environment. A man dealing with fertility issues needs to take the same steps.

Finally, couples should remember that infertility is a complex problem that has many causes. Not every infertile person will respond to these herbal treatments. Therefore, it is always a good idea to seek professional medical advice when dealing with infertility.
